Located on Kawa Road in Duhok, Shahed Cafe is not just another spot for your morning coffee; it is a heartfelt tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Peshmerga fighters. The café serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles faced by the Kurdish people, making it a unique place to both enjoy a meal and reflect on the rich history of the region.

Stepping inside Shahed Cafe, you're welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere, filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a medley of breakfast delights. The cozy decor and inspiring photographs of martyrs beautifully complement the menu, which boasts a variety of traditional Kurdish breakfast dishes. Popular offerings include various types of eggs, freshly baked bread, and local specialties, each bursting with flavor and showcasing the essence of the region.

Customers rave about the affordable prices and the hospitable nature of the staff. Mohammed Alqaderi describes it as, "very special," highlighting how the café allows visitors to grasp the significance of the Peshmerga for the Kurdish identity. Abbas Mohammed echoes this sentiment, expressing his fondness for the café as a favorite breakfast spot, especially on Fridays. The friendliness of the staff creates an inviting environment where guests feel like part of the community.

But it’s more than just the food that keeps patrons coming back; it’s the deeply meaningful atmosphere. Kevin Kremer attests to the café being a "remarkable" place, where visitors can not only enjoy delicious food but also participate in a celebration of sacrifice and pride. It's a chance to engage with the heritage of the region, making each dining experience much more than just a meal.

Nabi Taha emphasizes the beauty of the location and its significance, stating, "We take pride in honoring our martyrs." This sentiment is echoed by Jonathan Finney, who finds it a "cool spot" to learn about the bravery of those who fought for the country, thus transforming an ordinary dining experience into a compelling journey through history.

In essence, Shahed Cafe is a place where delicious food meets profound meaning. Whether you are a local or a traveler eager to explore the cultural depths of Duhok, a visit to Shahed Cafe promises to be an unforgettable experience, leaving you enriched and inspired.

A remarkable café that pays tribute to lives lost in conflict – both a beautiful space and a deeply meaningful initiative. Thoughtfully conceived and profoundly moving. The food is delicious too!
